Ă votre arrivĂ©e Ă Klein Curaçao, lâeau cristalline est calme, idĂ©ale pour nager, faire du snorkeling et de la plongĂ©e sous-marine. Bien que le moyen sec de vous rendre au bord depuis le catamaran est en canot, nous vous recommandons dâattraper un masque et de nager vers la rive. DĂšs que vous entrez dans lâeau, vous pourrez immĂ©diatement apercevoir de nombreux poissons multicolores et des tortues tout autour de vous; Entre mai et aoĂ»t, vous pouvez mĂȘme voir les bĂ©bĂ©s tortues de mer se frayer un chemin depuis la plage de sable jusquâĂ lâeau claire de lâocĂ©an.
Lorsque vous accosterez, partez Ă la dĂ©couverte de lâĂźle tout en vous imprĂ©gnant parfaitement de soleil sur le chemin. La distance de la plage jusquâau phare, aux Ă©paves et aux ruines nâest pas trop loin pour une promenade. Ă midi, lâĂ©quipage est prĂȘt Ă vous servir un vaste buffet barbecue. Sirotez des boissons Ă volontĂ© au bar.
à 15:00, nous mettons les voiles, en disant au revoir à cette perle des Caraïbes et, portés par le vent, nous retournons à Curaçao.

Cette Ăźle inhabitĂ©e est Ă environ 1 heure et demie de bateau de Curaçao et regorge dâĂ©tranges histoires, mystĂšres et beautĂ©s sur seulement 1,7 kilomĂštre carrĂ©. Les explorateurs, les amateurs de bains de soleil, les adeptes de snorkeling et les plongeurs apprĂ©cieront tous un voyage vers la diversitĂ© de Klein Curaçao.

We were on the Black and White catamaran, and it was a nice size with good space to enjoy the water (and in some cases, enjoy the waves splashing through the netting in front). They did warn us :). There was also good seating in the middle of the deck for shade and to stay dry. We were lucky that they were able to pick us up at the Sandals property - made for an early (7:30) pickup, but it saved us navigating to the main dock site.
General day schedule:
8:30: standard pick up
8:45 -10:30: ride to Klein
10:30-12:30: time to snorkel or explore Klein
12:30: BBQ lunch. (So so good!)
Until 2:45- more free time to snorkel/beach
3:00-5:00: return to Curaçao

- Fantastic crew. Capable, fun, really interested in making it a great day
- The BBQ lunch. Tons of great food. Yum!
- Great boat. Our catamaran experience was super fun. A few other operations had smaller and more closed-off boats.
- Beautiful island and snorkeling. We saw barracuda, a stingray, pufferfish, and lots of various tropical fish. Itâs mostly flat and sandy with great visibility.
Recos:
- Understand that Klein is an uninhabited island. You can walk to the lighthouse or hang on a beautiful beach. No facilities. A few thatched roof cabanas for shade. We went with the intention of snorkeling only, but others were expecting more on the island
- If you want to snorkel, the boat hands out masks/snorkels only. Bring fins if you want them. The snorkeling was worthwhile.
- If youâre prone to seasickness, take meds before. Itâs a rough ride, though no one on our boat was sick. The crew also offers some helpful advice - so speak up if youâre feeling ill.
- Watch the time and be back to the boat on time. There wasnât a roll call or passenger check; itâs your responsibility to board on time.
- Bring sunscreen and reapply - the sun is beautiful but fierce.

Just a couple of details we want to note based on our experience that come from logistical questions we had prior to the excursion and want to share with others so they have an idea of what to expect. The boat ride to Klein Curacao is about 2 hours one-way. There is some shade on the boat, but you might find yourself in direct sunlight for quite some time, so definitely be prepared with lots of sunscreen or a coverup. Once we arrived, we were able to go to shore and explore for about an hour and a half before lunch was served. Most people swam from the boat to shore (about 25 yards), but anyone less confident in their swimming abilities was ferried over in the dinghy used to transport everyone's personal bags to the beach. We left our bags on the beach when it was time to go back for lunch (again, most of us swam back). Open bar starts with lunchtime and doesn't stop until you get back to the dock. After lunch, we had about another hour and a half to spend back on the beach before it was time to go. The crew was very specific about the timeline and careful to make sure no one (or their bags) got left behind. For anyone considering checking out the lighthouse or shipwreck, we definitely recommend it! It's a much shorter walk than you think, maybe 10-15 minutes to get there and it's a really fascinating landscape to check out. There are a ton of trails and paths all over the place that will get you there, but there seems to be one "official" walkway on the north side of the Mermaid Boat Trip area that is the most direct. Also, there are no lounge chairs but there are a handful of palapas. Some are big enough to share and some are smaller. If you can bring towels or a blanket to sit on, that's the best way to go. We did not have an issue with mosquitos or bugs.
Overall, this was a fantastic trip! At first glance, it seems like it might be a bit too long of a day, but time flies when you're having fun, and we were more than a little disappointed to hear the "toot toots" summoning us to return to the boat. We had a blast!
